What Is the Difference Between Homeowner’s Insurance and a Home Warranty?

Picture
Home warranties are offered by many companies, mostly during the selling process. Typically, there are two types of home warranties that people will purchase for their homes.  The first one covers any major systems or repairs for the first year, and the second is an annual renewal type contract which continues to keep the coverage active.

Homeowner’s Insurance

This is an insurance policy to protect your home and personal property from damages as result of a fire, wind, storm, or some other act of God or covered activity.
Home Warranty
A home warranty, on the other hand, is optional and typically covers the costs for repair or replacement of the electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems as well as major appliances like the refrigerator or oven.
Home warranty protection usually offers repair or replacement of a specific item for a specific period of time.
Even if you secure a home warranty policy, we recommend that you also have a homeowner’s insurance policy, as there are limitations in home warranty products.  If you have a mortgage, homeowner’s insurance is generally required by your mortgage company.

Reduce Your Business Insurance Costs

Picture
We offer a number of proven methods of reducing insurance premiums without affecting coverage.  We recommend a review of your program to determine if these areas can be managed differently to reduce costs. We are ready to help you work through the process.  Here are six methods we can recommend for you to consider.
Business Insurance
  • Merge insurance policies - Consolidating auto, property and liability under one policy can provide “package” credits.
  • Automobile Program - Make sure all your commercial vehicles are “classified” correctly. For example, having a pick-up classified as a commercial delivery truck can increase costs. Consider self insuring physical damage coverage on certain vehicles.
  • Workers’ Compensation – If you have had large losses, it could be beneficial to have a third party medical bill review completed.
  • Increase Deductibles - Consider increasing your property deductible to $5,000, or even $10,000.  Also, think about increasing auto deductibles on older vehicles. If your losses are low, over time you might save enough in premiums to pay for future losses.
Have us complete an audit of your entire program – We can evaluate exposures your company has, and discover what options would be best for your individual needs. We can become a second set of eyes to uncover exposures not currently addressed.

Commercial Liability Insurance 101

Commercial Insurance Cedar Park, TX
When you own a business, investing in the right insurance policies is the best way to make sure that you are protected from any peril. It is important to keep in mind that your personal insurance policies will not provide any coverage for disasters that occur at the office, especially your liability insurance coverage. Knowing how to properly protect your company can ensure that you are not left financially devastated after one accident.

Commercial liability insurance is the first place to start when looking for liability coverage. As a third party insurance policy, it could pay a person who files a claim against your company, excluding any employees. It will cover the cost of a legal defense during a lawsuit, as well as any damages that your business is ordered to pay.

Commercial general liability insurance policies can be written on an occurrence or claims made basis. Claims made basis policies will pay for any claims that are filed during the time that the policy is in effect. Occurrence basis policies will only pay for claims that are associated with injuries or damage that is the fault of your business, no matter when the claim is filed.

If you are looking for even more liability protection for your business, you should invest in a commercial umbrella policy, which will provide liability coverage that goes beyond the protection of any of your other insurance policies. When the liability limits of your other policies have been reached, your umbrella policy will kick in to ensure that you are not financially devastated,
